November 2008. GEW reported the successful launch of its IsoCure UV curing system for newspaper presses at IFRA 2008. IsoCure enables the use of UV curable inks to produce both high quality printed work as well as newspapers at high speeds, expanding both capacity and press utilisation.
IsoCure can be fitted to existing cold-set presses and gives printers the ability to print on both coated and uncoated paper without having to invest in an additional press. Printing can be either UV or a combination of cold-set and UV. Both conventional and inert atmosphere UV technology is available.
GEW uses only electronic technology to run its UV systems and all models are based on its e-Brick power supply. Compared to conventional power supply, the company claims e-Brick’s high frequency, square wave technology can boost UV output by over 20% and reduce energy consumption by up to 30% for an equivalent cure.
GEW manufactures energy saving UV curing systems for all makes of printing presses and supplies both original equipment manufacturers as well as UV upgrades for existing equipment. Since 1991 the company has built itself a strong reputation as the global market leader of web-based UV curing systems. Based near London, England, GEW manufactures all its products in-house, which are available together with spare parts and after-sales service in every continent through its satellite offices and distribution network around the world.
